FAQ

Q: Can i change my company name?

A:  Company Name can be only changed from our side. You have to contact us.

--

Q: During the update process, what will happen, if the vehicle is switched off (and so the device is, because it is not connected to permanent vehicle power and the internal battery is not connected)?

A:  FMB devices have protection in this scenario. In such cases when the device is turned on it will remain with the firmware version that was before the update process.

--

Q: What are the different actions that can be done to FOTA WEB?

A: You can find them here: https://wiki.teltonika.lt/view/Devices --> Actions..

--

Q: Is it possible for a customer to import information other than IMEI to FOTA WEB?

A: No, it is not possible to import other information than IMEI or serial number to FOTA WEB but you can update "DESCRIPTION" column manually to identify your device.

--

Q: How to get dump files from a device?

A:  You need to access FOTA WEB: FOTA WEB - > Actions -> Download from device -> continuous logs.

--

Q: Is it possible to load a configuration file on the devices, which contains only a few parameters?

A: No, it's not possible. It's only possible to upload a FULL configuration file via FOTA WEB.

--

Q: Does Fota WEB require a procedural order between firmware and configurator update?

A: When you assign firmware and then the configuration file, the order will be kept and FOTA WEB will upload firmware first, and only then configuration file will be uploaded.

--

Q: Why do we use the command "web_connect"?

A: We use it for instant connection to the FOTA web. You could use this command for faster logs, configuration download,s or firmware configuration updates.

--

Q: which command helps to re-initiate data on FM?

A: "deleterecords"

--

Q: While updating the device with the new configuration via FOTA WEB, will the device send or at least store GNSS data or will there be a data gap of about some minutes?

A: The device will work normally until the FW / Configuration files are received.

Then it will start flashing -updating (about 3 minutes will not collect/send data)

After the change, the FW will restart and start normal operation

After changing the Configuration, it will start normal operation ( no restart)

If there are multiple jobs assigned for a single device – FOTA WEB shall execute them one by one. Each time a job is completed FM shall reconnect to FOTA WEB immediately and if another job is awaiting – attempt to complete it.

Q: Is it possible to transfer the device bought from Mirifica to an external FOTA WEB account?

A: Yes, it is possible.

Please provide the IMEI and SN number of these devices,  name your customer account, and Registered user's email.

FOTA lite (v3)

DEEN

Du musst

  • schnell sein Fota Update Kommando losschicken,
  • Befehlszeile für das SMS aus dem generierten XML kopieren und
  • die SMS schicken

solange der Tracker den Status Waiting zeigt. Dann klappt es.

You have to

  • send its Fota Update command quickly,
  • copy the command line for the SMS text from the generated XML and
  • send SMS text

as long as the tracker shows the status Waiting. Then it works.

Please contact us for access to FOTA lite (V3).

NB: FOTA lite is free of charge

  • Firstly, install FOTA lite (V3)
  • When you start FOTA for the first time, you will see a window (like this one below) with two spaces as shown in the screenshot. One is the hardware key that you need to give us so that we can provide you with a license, and below is a space where you would enter the license key that we would give you.

FOTA windows (first launch)

If you can connect to FOTA without a license key, it means your application is already licensed.

NB: You can have a second installation of FOTA, you just need to provide a hardware key on the second computer.

If when FOTA is running you have a problem, please check that your connection PORT is available. This can be done at the following address: https://ping.eu/port-chk/. You'll get a window like this:

Enter the IP address provided by the FOTA and  the PORT (to know the PORT your FOTA uses, press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard, then enter "cmd" and validate in the window that will appear, enter resmon.exe and press the Enter key. The window that will appear will allow you to know which PORT is using an application on your computer)
and click on "Go". This operation will display the status of your connection (open or closed). For the operation of your FOTA, it must be open. If it is closed, then the following procedure will allow you to open it:

  • Login to your router.
  • Navigate to your router port forwarding section, also frequently called virtual server ( e.g: PORT: 7000 from external IP to client's PC IP. For every router model, forwarding is different and some routers don't even support forwarding) .
  • Create the port forward entries in your router.
  • Test that your ports are forwarded correctly.

Note:

  • You can download LOG file using FOTA Lite from directory D:\Log\C\.

In the FOTA application, register your device by filling all the required data, choose it, and press the "Choose Files" button,  then specify what files you would like to download and the location where you would like to save them and start downloading.

  • if you encounter difficulties in registering IMEIs, please send us:
    • IMEI list of devices which has failed license
    • hardware key
  • With FOTA V3, you will be able to :
           - upload FW to the device? - YES
           - download FW from the device? - NO
-upload config to the device? - YES
-download config from the device? - YES, but only for FMBXXX devices (except FMB640)
