For the follow-up of people and animals, the challenge for a tracker has always been the battery saving. To this end, the TMT250 offers two operating mode: the performance mode and the low power mode.
The performance mode: when it is active, GNSS module is constantly awake for a maximum track quality(excluding when Handheld device is in sleep mode).
The low power mode can be used instead of the performance mode. It can be configured in System -> Tracking Mode -> Power Save Mode -> Low Power Mode.
When low power mode is enabled, all sleep modes are desactivated and cannot be enabled.
Low power mode works like online deep sleep mode. Below, you will find some power consumption statistics when the device is not searching for coordinates and not sending any data:
When low power mode is enabled and the device is moving, the consumption is approximately 7,2 mA.
When low power mode is enabled and the device is not moving, the consumption is similar to online deep sleep consumption - approximately 4,2 mA.
Basically, it is a battery saving mode, where GNSS module is woken up only when it is time to acquire position. Min data acquisition period has to be >=60 seconds when this mode is selected.
